In Alto Douro Vinhateiro, on one of the most beautiful slopes of the Douro demarcated region, considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, is located Quinta do Enxertado, a fertile land comprising several hectares of vineyards and olive groves.
Here, the olive trees are cultivated in a meticulous way in schist soils and the harvest of their olives is carried out by the traditional method. The microclimatic characteristics of this region, associated with an ecological production process and traditional cultivation combined with human work, allow us to obtain an olive oil of excellence.
Thus, the brand of superior quality extra virgin olive oil D’Ouro Boças was created, obtained solely by mechanical processes and cold extracted directly from the olive. It is the Picual and Cobrançosa varieties that make it possible to obtain this high quality oil, with an intense and unique flavour and smell.
From an organoleptic point of view, we can say that this oil is complex and has a very balanced sensory profile, recognized for its intense and striking flavour. In the mouth it is smooth, fruity, sweet and slightly bitter/spicy making it ideal in dishes with strong flavours. Its aroma is reminiscent of freshly cut herbs or ripe fruit. It is rich in polyphenols, has powerful antioxidants, vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids, which help in the prevention of cardiovascular diseases.
D’Ouro Boças olive oil is a fundamental ingredient in gastronomy. When tasted raw, on toasts or in salads, it makes it possible to appreciate its intensity and character. It is excellent in cold or hot dishes, contributing with a peculiar aroma.
Its acidity is less than 0.2% which makes it a good health ally.
For better preservation of quality, it is advisable to store it in a cool, low-light place.
